Record-Breaking Belgian series PUTAIN to premiere on March 22nd at Series Mania

The Streamz Original series Putain, produced by Panenka, will have its international premiere on March 22nd at Series Mania in Lille, France. Putain was created by Frederik Daem and Gorik Van Oudheusden (Zwangere Guy) and directed by Deben Van Dam. The screenplay was written by Frederik Daem, Deben Van Dam, and Nadège Bibo-Tansia.
This groundbreaking series is the first to bring the raw, multilingual, and multicultural reality of Brussels to the screen, resonating with both young and older audiences. Featuring a mix of rising Brussels talents and established actors, Putain has been hailed as "the Brussels Euphoria," making waves in the Belgian audiovisual industry.

The series was an instant phenomenon upon its national release, becoming "the talk of the town" in Belgium during the Christmas holidays. It achieved the best opening weekend for a Streamz Original in 2024 and received outstanding reviews across Belgian media, consistently earning top ratings.

About the series
Putain follows the life of Brussels-based Gigi and his friends Rania, Snokkie, Yves, and Zola. When Gigi discovers that his mother, Anaïs, is once again dating her ex, Fabrice—who was not only her former love but also a past partner in drug addiction—he presents her with an ultimatum: her son or her lover. When Anaïs refuses to answer, Gigi decides to leave home. Relying on his friends, he embarks on an unexpected new chapter in his life.
The series features a mix of rising Brussels talents and established actors, including Liam Jacqmin, Liesa Van der Aa (The Day), Felix Heremans (Venice contender Holly), Hind, Victoria Djamusala, Laura Darnovsky, Roda Fawaz (1985), and Pierre Boeraeve.
A standout feature of Putain is its authentic street casting. Over 60 actors in the series had never acted before, adding to the realism of the show. The casting process took an impressive 1.5 years, ensuring that the series remained true to the diverse voices and experiences of its characters.
The series' impact was further amplified by its exceptional soundtrack, curated by co-creator and renowned Belgian rapper Zwangere Guy, which has been widely praised for its authenticity and energy.
Putain is produced by Panenka for Streamz, with support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) of the Flemish Minister for Media. The series also received support from the economic fund Screen Flanders, Screen Brussels and the Belgian Tax Shelter program of the Federal Government.
