Panenka sells Series Mania Breakout PUTAIN to Filmin for Iberia

The Belgian production company has closed a major sale with the Spanish streamer Filmin for Spain and Portugal

The series, which was created by Frederik Daem and Gorik Van Oudheusden (Zwangere Guy), directed by Deben Van Dam and written by Daem, Van Dam, and Nadège Bibo-Tansia, premiered on Streamz & Videoland (Netherlands) last December and received a Special Mention from the Panorama jury at Series Mania in France earlier this year. The series is now being aired in the French-speaking part of Belgium on Proximus Pickx and will premiere on BeTV as well on June 12th. Panenka is currently also in talks with players for other potential territories.

The groundbreaking series was the first to bring the raw, multilingual, and multicultural reality of Brussels to the screen. Featuring a mix of rising Brussels talents and established actors, Putain made waves in the Belgian audiovisual industry.

Jaume Ripoll Vaker, CCO & co-founder of Filmin, said: “We’re so proud that Filmin will bring this captivating series to Spanish and Portuguese audiences this fall. The cinematography, the music, the themes of family relations and growing up in a city… it all resonated deeply with us too.”
Kristoffel Mertens, producer at Panenka: “Following a successful launch in Belgium and Netherlands, I look forward to Putain finding its way to Spain, Portugal and other territories we're currently in talks with”. “The team is incredibly happy that the series will now further travel internationally and will continue to move audiences outside abroad.” Mertens continued.
"The series was an instant phenomenon upon its national release, becoming "the talk of the town" in Belgium. It achieved the best opening weekend for a Streamz Original in 2024 and received outstanding reviews across Belgian media, consistently earning top ratings. We're looking forward to what the series will accomplish next." says CEO of Streamz Bart De Groote.
